Try 'Tamarix' or alt.spelling, 'Tamarisk' tree. Depending upon where you live at this time of the year the tree branches give an almost totally pink appearance, grows approx 10' x 10' ( 3.5m x 3.5m as a controllable mature specimen, fully frost hardy, ideal near the coast as well. Tolerates fairly hard pruning if the branches get a bit too big for your garden.Alternative pink flowering shrub for you to look up are: 'Syringa' com. name lilac which is starting into flower in some parts already

Added later: found a picture for you that might help, go to www.toptropicals.com and enter the name in their plant search.
Reply:Sounds like a Tamarisk. Type into Google images.
Reply:Your question lacks the following: a picture, your location, the location of the plant, and it's overall size. Without this information it is impossible to tell if it is a tree, shrub, or wild growing weed. Call back at gjgjobs@yahoo.com if you wish.
Reply:It sounds like Albizia julibrissin (Silk Tree). This has mimosa-like leaves and produces flowers like little feathery bits of fluff.
Reply:HMMMMMM Sounds like maybe a Mimosa tree---my grandmother had 2 beautiful ones, and your description sounds very similar, but i would have to see a picture first.
Reply:By your description it sounds like ... tamarix pentandra ... this shrub should not flower until june or july ... with all the changes to the seasons all the 'tamarix' here in Shropshire are all in full flower.
Reply:Mimosa or possibly Japanese Maple.....
Reply:Buddlia?
Reply:Maybe a Crape Myrtle
Reply:Does it smell good?
