Is it too late for me to plant flowers?

I live in Central Alabama and want to start a flower garden. I was wondering if it was too late and what may be some good beginner flowers. Also the area is sunny all day long.

Is it too late for me to plant flowers?
Nope not too late. You can grow plants like tuberose, lilly, dahlia and galdiolus. Their bulbs are planted in april-may and they flower in summer. Also if you are in a hurry to see flowers. Grow perennials like pansy and petunia.
Reply:Right now is a perfect time to start planting your Flowers. Go to Lowes or WalMart and you will see all kind of Flowers and plants that are right for planting this time of year. I prefer the Perrenials as they will come back each year, but will plant Annuals in flowers Pots that will last up until the first freeze..
Reply:call your local greenhouse or store that sells live plants

i am in pittsburgh it is too early for us here to plant anything.

We are going to plant some roses and grapevines this Spring tho
Reply:the place i would recommend you look at is at brecks follow the sight and it works great!!!! it helped me out
Reply:You can start planting as soon as the danger of frost is past. You will find great summer flowers at your local nursery. Start with no brainers like black eyed susans, buddleia, salvia, blue and red. Try hibiscus and lorapetalum, silverado sage and for a border, how about juniper prostrata. Have a good time and experiment.
Reply:You can plant irises at this time of the year and they grow best in moist peat with one part sand, one part perlite and one part vermiculite. It is actually a little early for many plants but sweet peas can be germinated now and provide long lasting colour, so can lobelia.

Use fine and soft seed compost for lobelia seed propagation. Directions

Get a tray with drainage holes

Place seed compost into the tray and mix in one part sand

Smooth the compost flat and compress it gently

Scatter seeds carefully and cover with a fine layer of soft seed compost

level off the soil so it is completely flat

water lightly and cover with a plastic lid and place in a cool greenhouse or windowsill
Reply:You could buy seedlings but I don't think it is to late to start from seeds. I just planted a bunch of sunflower seeds in newspaper pots and it's working great. Sunflowers have been the easiest flowers I have found to grow.
