My dad beats my dog because he thinks he got into the garden and destroyed the tomatoes and the flowers. Help?

Ok, now I was really angry ! My dad just started beating my dog because he thought the dog destroyed the tomatoes and the flowers in the garden. He has no evidence that my dog did it , but still he doesn't want to listen to me. I saw cat footprints on the ground... The dog did't wen't there to do it's... thing... (let's not say a bad word) because there were no dog excrements. What can I do to proove my dad that he was wrong ?

First of all...beating a dog for any reason is WRONG. If he gets caught, he will get in trouble. Regardless of what the dog was doing or how mad he got, he should NEVER do that. It will do nothing but make the dog a nervous wreck and it will hate him. Might even bite him or someone else when older. Depending on your age, I would certainly protect your dog when you are not around or else get a better home for him. Try a kennel when you cant be there to watch him or tell you dumb dad to put a fence around his precious vegetation.
Reply:hit your dad. he might come to his senses.
Reply:Whoa, Yahooligans! Cruelty to animals is a punishable crime.
Reply:Tell your dad to stop beating your dog! Show him the cat tracks on the ground if they're still there! Animal abuse is considered a crime in 42 out of 50 states due to the recall of the pet food. Tell your father to stop beating your dog. He can go to jail for that. I can't believe that he didn't believe you! Talk to him and tell him that the cat did it. Maybe your dad has something going on and that's why he beat your dog. But nonetheless, you should NEVER EVER beat a dog.

Go talk 2 him!

Hope this helped,

Reply:First of all, if your dad beats on the dog he is committing a crime. Animal abuse.

Second, he is risking having the dog turn on humans in fear and self defence.

Third, dogs have no idea why they are being punished after the fact and beating does no good except to show the stupidity of the human doing it.

Fourth, your dad's aggression shows a lack of common sense and a complete disregard for truth.

Fifth, if I were there, I would have his *** arrested for acting like a jackass (as well as committing a crime).
Reply:your dad has some issues. my dad does the same but i always stop him with a very serious tone. if he tries and wnt listen to me, i stop him myself with force and i am 14 yr old girl. very strong though :-D

anyway, i would get the dog and keep an eye on him for a while so your dad doesnt get near him. lock him in ur room or something until your dad calms down
Reply:Sounds like your Dad has some anger issues to be hitting a poor defenseless dog. Can't you talk to your Mom about the problem with the dog? You might try calling your local Humane Society, explaining the problem, and asking if an Animal Control Officer could come out and talk to your Dad.
Reply:Hit your father and see how much he likes it, or report him to the RSPCA for animal cruelty. Because thats what he's doing.
Reply:Trade in your father ( I won't call him a dad) the man must be a cretin.
Reply:tell him what u are telling us
Reply:The first thing I want to say is that if you truly love your dog, get him out of the situation. No dog deserves to be beat. They are usually easily trained. However, if they are beat to often, they can become scarred. They will stop trusting people and a good dog may turn bad. Whether you take the dog to a shelter or give him away or take him and move away with him. Please get him out of the situation.
Reply:catch him at a calm time and say, dad i need to talk to you. tell him the story, show him the footprints and maybe he might listen to you. hope this helps!
Reply:I think you should report your father for animal abuse.
Reply:Some people can't be reasoned with. Your dad will get a smackdown from the karma police someday. Have faith.
Reply:just say you did it by accident. or just blame it on the cat.
Reply:It's a well known fact that people that abuse animals also abuse people.. I would be careful approaching the subject with your dad..

If your dad was so worried about his garden, he would not have a dog, or he would have a fence around his precious flowers and tomatoes.. It's his own fault. How you expect a dog or cat to know to stay out if it's all wide open.

Your dad is in the wrong.. But telling him about it?? I don't know.. I would put the dog away and make sure he knows the dog's away and when the cat goes back in, he is busted.. Course then your dad will beat the cat... So who's ahead in this situation??

I would find a new home for the cat and the dog.. Get them the heck out an abusive situation.. What's next.. Dog gets beat cause he chewed the shoe your dad leaves out on the floor??
Reply:hitting an animal is called abuse and is illegal.

it wont help them train or learn, they have no idea why they are beaten, and it can cause aggressiveness.

report your father to your local animal enforcement agency.

if you dont want to do that, at least convince your parents to give your dog to someone who will look after it better for its own safety.
