Any pros and or cons?
Have you ever tried Garden Rolls? Supposedly you roll them out on soil and they grow a variety of flowers?
sausage rolls are best
Reply:my parents used those in the 70's. They grew super well (mind you my dad has this massive green thumb)
I planted some in the 90's--they grew ok--a few gaps where either their were no seeds in the strip or just bad seeds
you don't get a choice of which flower or where it grows.
Reply:I tried them years ago when they first came onto the market in the States and was disappointed. Hopefully, they've improved.
My aunt in Sweden tried them last summer with fantastic results. However, she lives in Sweden where there is sunlight 24 hours a day in the height of summer.
Reply:Only Pro is saving you the work of planting. Cons, you have plants you may not care about and no choice in selection, they are the cheapest plants, no guarantee they will survive.
Reply:I am always really skeptical about infomercial products, but my father in law bought this Garden Roll to try out.The first time I had no luck. The wind was carrying off the seeds and birds and squirrels were eating them. My father in law decided to try again the following spring, but this time after rolling it out in the garden, we covered it with a very light layer of triple mix soil. This I was really surprised to see the results! (poppys, snapdragons, daisys, candytufts, forget me nots, pale and purple cone-flowers, and a few others I don't know the names of) and the best thing was they seeded in the fall and came back the following spring.
Bottom line, I tried it and it worked beautifully. (I have neighbours coming and taking seeds in the fall.)
Reply:Waste of money, buy some wild flower seeds and sow them
Reply:the pros
are that you can have many seedlings in a short amount of time and under very good care you can have lots of flowers
the cons
are that your flowers wont look like the ones in the commercial unless you by some covering to protect it from rain, wind, and sun shine. they also take a long time to reach adult hood.
Reply:No I haven't.
All you have to do is buy some seeds and throw them out wherever you want them to grow and cover them lightly with soil and the seeds will grow just the same.
Reply:My neighbour planted some. they did great.
Reply:When I heard the cons I decided to stay away from them. The seeds require different care which was enough to get me to buy packets of what I really wanted and it was far less expensive.
Good growing.
